Rev. Christopher White
Senior Minister and Team Leader

Rev. Christopher White has been the Senior Minister and Team Leader at Fairlawn since October 2010. He has a long, deep track record of building up his congregations so that they grow in all aspects of church life. He brings a commitment to service in the community and in the greater church. Christopher’s family includes his wife, Wendy, and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah.

In 2012, Christopher received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for Community Service, which recognizes those who have made significant contributions to their communities. He has been instrumental in the formation of Faith in the City, an initiative of religious leaders, clergy and lay-people from several faith traditions who, along with concerned members of Toronto City Council, encourage Faith Communities working in areas of common social concern to improve the lives of their neighbours.

Christopher is the editor of the Question Box column in the United Church Observer. He taught at Queen’s University’s Shaw Transformational Leadership program, the Emmanuel College Summer Institute and the Five Oaks Educational Centre. He is a sought-after speaker and workshop leader on issues of leadership and congregational development. Christopher has also written for CBC radio, the Globe and Mail, and other newspapers and magazines.

Eleanor Daley
Director of Music

Eleanor Daley has been the Director of Music at Fairlawn Avenue United Church since 1982. During this time, she has established a thriving choral program for which much of her music has been composed, thanks to the continuing support and talent of her Junior, Intermediate, and Senior choirs.

A prolific composer, Eleanor has a remarkable gift for melody. She has over one hundred and fifty published choral compositions and is commissioned extensively throughout North America. Her compositions have been widely performed, recorded, and aired throughout North America, Great Britain, Europe, South Africa, and the Far East. See The Published Works of Eleanor Daley.

Eleanor has twice received the National Choral Award for Outstanding Choral Composition of the Year, given by the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors (ACCC).

Eleanor’s gift for working with children and youth means that the young singers of our Junior and Intermediate Choirs receive a music education second to none. Our Senior Choir performs a range of music with exceptional skill and beauty, thanks in large part to Eleanor’s inspiring leadership.
