Rev. Douglas duCharme has been working with congregations as an Interim or Transition Minister for over 18 years. Prior to that he worked in the Middle East with the World Council of Churches for 7 years, and then as executive staff with the Canadian Council of Churches for 5 years. Douglas and his wife, Elaine Perkins, have two adult daughters living in Toronto and Ottawa (where Douglas and Elaine both have roots), and a year-old granddaughter. Douglas’s international and ecumenical background in ministry, and his experience of working with a very diverse range of congregations in the Toronto area, means that he brings a real breadth and depth of openness to Fairlawn Avenue United Church. He also comes with a profoundly hopeful and expectant approach to discovering what new things God is doing in our midst, now and into the future, here at Fairlawn!
