Dip Your Toe in Celtic Spirituality:
Go to the Sea and the Sea Will Teach You Everything
Join us Wednesdays
May 26, June 2, 9, and 16
from 7 – 8 p.m.
Whether you’re already participating in Fairlawn or simply interested in Celtic spirituality, you’re welcome to join our new free online spirituality series that launches soon.
“If you want to learn to pray, go to the sea and the sea will teach you everything”.
Spiritual sense and sensitivity are shaped by both the fluid histories of people and their interactions with their fixed geographies. In both the “wilderness” of the Middle-East and the islands and seas of the Celtic world, each shapes the other.
In her book, Every Earthly Blessing, Esther De Waal says:
“Here is the Celtic way of seeing the world. It cannot be understood only in cerebral terms; it speaks to the heart, it is closer to poetry, and like poetry, it must remain ultimately elusive.”
R. S. Thomas, a Welsh poet who walked ancient trails, also knew about this elusiveness:
“You can come in
You can come a long way …
But you won’t be inside.”
So, if you’re interested in dipping your toes, mind, and heart into the elusive, and yet earthy, world of the Celts and their spiritual ways, please join us for these four spirited conversations.
