Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 until Jan. 22, 2017
1:45 pm - 4:00 pm
Fairlawn’s group trip is now sold out. If you would like to go later on your own, the exhibit at the AGO has been extended until Feb 12, 2017. Here’s some background information on the exhibit:
For those who registered and paid for our next Adult Education event, our experience at the Art Gallery of Ontario begins with a 45-minute “Art Talk” lecture about the paintings and spiritual experiences of the artists. (Be at the AGO at 1:45 pm.) Then we will have an opportunity to walk through the exhibit to see for ourselves these inspiring works of art. Audio guides are available at no extra charge.
Explore Spirituality with the mystical experiences of 37 artists from 14 countries, including Emily Carr, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch, Georgia O’Keeffe and James McNeill Whistler. The years between 1880 and 1930 were marked by rampant materialism and rapid urbanization. Disillusioned with traditional religious institutions, many European, Scandinavian and North American artists searched for an unmediated spiritual path through mystical experiences.
Our group will reconvene a week later on Sunday, January 29 at 9:00-10:00 am to have a chance to talk about what the exhibit meant for us.
Note: Registration is closed for this event.
