Saturday Nights: Youth and Adult Volunteers for Out of the Cold
High school-aged youth and adults from Fairlawn are invited to volunteer again this year at the Blythwood Baptist Church Out of the Cold.
Out of the Cold
For the third year, your Fairlawn Embrace Action Fund and Fairlawn volunteers will continue to support the Blythwood Out of the Cold. Perhaps you’d like to try it this winter. They provide a safe, warm place to stay overnight, two full meals (dinner and breakfast), respect, acceptance, and compassion for poor and homeless people in Toronto.
Now in its 25th season, the Out of the Cold at Blythwood Road Baptist Church runs from the first Saturday in November to the first Saturday in April.
High school volunteer hours
Volunteering at Out of the Cold counts for high school volunteer hours.
Volunteers come from many churches, organizations, and walks of life. In addition, Dixon Hall, a social services agency, provides security and educational support.
Volunteers should be more than 16 years of age. Volunteers will be provided with support and instruction before they begin.
If you would like to join as a volunteer for Out of the Cold Saturday nights, please contact the volunteer organizer at Blythwood, Susan Thomas
Donations of large and extra-large clothing and boots are requested. Blythwood needs winter parkas, boots, running shoes, jeans, and hoodies. To see the full list of items, go to: blythwood.org/index.php/outofthecold.
To drop off a donation, please contact or Jennifer at 416-487-4571.
If you have questions about Fairlawn’s involvement, please contact Fairlawn’s Mary Ellen Richardson.
