SUMMARY:Giving Tuesday Street Health Toiletries Campaign
DESCRIPTION:Giving Tuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of “radical generosity”. It came to Canada in 2013 as a simple idea: designate a day – November 28 – that encourages people to do good. If you have any unopened travel-sized toiletries or personal hygiene products\, Street Health\, one of our Embrace Action partner organizations\, would love to use them in their work on Indigenous Harm Reduction in Toronto this winter. Simply drop the donated items from 10:00 to10:30am before worship\, in the Nook (SE sanctuary entrance).

SUMMARY:Affirm Ministry Online Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Fairlawn Zoom meeting of the Affirm Ministry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFairlawn is a welcoming and inclusive community of faith where you will discover a church that lives out its faith in a way that is both dynamic and life affirming. \nAs a church\, we celebrate the richness and diversity of our community\, including 2SLGBTQIA+ (two-spirit\, lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, queer\, questioning\, intersex\, asexual and more). \n\n\n\n\nFairlawn became an Affirming church in 2015. This inclusiveness is founded on love\, and we invite all those who may be economically\, physically or mentally challenged or who have been discriminated against because of ethnicity\, sexual orientation\, race\, gender or age. \nIf you would like more information or would like to become a member of the Affirm team\, please contact Kevin Doe\, Chair of Affirm at affirm@fairlawnavenueunited.ca.

SUMMARY:How We House - A Walking Tour Experience
DESCRIPTION:Regent Park Community Ministry\, TUCC and the North Toronto Cluster present \nHow We House – A Walking Tour Experience \nSaturday\, September 28\, from 10:00am- 1:00pm \nRGI… city subsidies… TCHC… housing coops… supportive housing… Do you find yourself wishing you better understood the different kinds of affordable housing options in the city\, so you can advocate from an informed place? If so\, you are not alone! \nWe will go on a walking tour of the Regent Park neighbourhood\, and hear from people that live in various types of housing about their experience. We will also learn about the history of affordable housing\, the gaps and pressing areas for immediate advocacy regarding affordable housing. \nThe walk itself will be approximately 1.5 km total with stops along the way\, all within Regent Park\, no major inclines or stairs involved. We meet promptly at 10:00am at 585 Dundas St. East\, and our walk will reconvene at the same location for lunch and a Q&A session with the presenters. The event will wrap up no later than 1:00pm. \nRegistrants are asked to register and the fee is $15 per person to help cover lunch and event costs. \n(Please note: You will be asked to make a quick account on the ChurchX website when signing up as part of the process. If you have any issues you can email Angie to assist – ahocking@united-church.ca )

SUMMARY:CMHA Education Session on Anxiety
DESCRIPTION:Stay with us after worship service on Sunday\, March 23\, for a workshop facilitated by Christina Gallo of CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) Toronto. We will provide a light lunch during coffee hour that will include sandwiches and crudité to take to your seats to enjoy as we transition from worship to our guest speaker. \nFairlawners\, like many in our community\, are feeling particular anxiety about social justice issues close to our hearts and minds: poverty\, climate change\, 2SLGBTQIA+ rights\, and the list goes on. Christina will share with us what anxiety is; the difference between the normal anxiety we feel vs. medical/clinical anxiety; how to develop empathy to help understand anxiety in others; and how we can best support our kids\, families\, communities and ourselves. There will also be a Q&A period. \n
