Temporarily Postponed due to COVID-19: Need a Ride, Give a Ride
NEED A RIDE – GIVE A RIDE
To all who might need a ride to a doctor or dental appointment, medical tests or treatments, or to visit a spouse in hospital, Fairlawn friends are here to help you. Our volunteers are ready and waiting!

Give us advance warning
Please contact us 48 hours prior to the appointment to request a drive.
Caregivers
Your caregiver is welcome to accompany you as another passenger in order to help you during the appointment.
Cost
The passenger pays for any parking costs. The drivers are volunteers who cannot accept payment for driving due to insurance implications. Consider them a friend, giving you a ride. The drivers will have paid for the gasoline in their cars, and the passenger does not pay for gas.
Drop-off and Pickup
It may be possible to drop the passenger off without parking, and pick up the passenger after the appointment, avoiding parking costs. The passenger must make arrangements for this ahead of time, exchange telephone numbers with the driver, and arrange for pickup time and location. Alternatively, a different driver could do the pickup.
Weather Complications
The driver may cancel if the driving conditions are risky, for example, in the case of a snowstorm or ice storm. The driver will suggest alternatives.
Equipment
Taking equipment, such as a walker, can be arranged. However, wheelchairs cannot be accommodated. The Coordinators can provide a list of groups that provide wheelchair transportation.
Driver Volunteers
If you would like to volunteer to be a driver, contact one of the Coordinators.
Note: Special additional insurance is not necessary for this volunteer driving because drivers do not charge for driving.
Getting to church on Sundays
Remember that taxi chits are available for members of the congregation to get to and from church at Fairlawn on Sundays, and for church-sponsored functions. Contact about the taxi service.

Are there other services at Fairlawn? — Yes!
If you’re not sure which lay ministry team would be appropriate, please get in touch with Carissa Urquhart. She has kindly volunteered to act as a “Connector” to help you navigate Fairlawn’s Experience Belonging support teams to determine which one best meets your needs.
Let’s all work together to ensure that no one falls through the cracks!
