    Embrace Action (EA) Committee Meeting

    Featured Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
    Online

The Embrace Action (EA) Fund supports organizations whose work is consistent with our social outreach vision of poverty reduction. We focus our financial aid on groups with whom we hope to deepen our relationship and broaden our support over time. The United Church of Canada’s Creed calls us to love and serve others and seek justice. Fairlawn’s vision is to build that compassion and understanding by personally engaging with those who are marginalized. Thus, our EA Fund focuses on activities for which it can not only provide financial aid, but also opportunities where Fairlawn members can be personally involved. Our EA Fund lay ministry team researches organizations and choses partners, after it: • assesses how closely their work aligns with Fairlawn’s poverty reduction goal, and • identifies ways that congregants can become more closely connected. Our partners’ representatives occasionally speak at Fairlawn worship services to share what they’re doing and how we can become more involved with their work. If you'd like information on the EA Fund, please reach out to ac.de1780644169tinue1780644169uneva1780644169nwalr1780644169iaf@a1780644169e1780644169.

    Fairlawn Senior Choir Practice

    Featured Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm Recurring
Fairlawn Avenue United Church 28 Fairlawn Avenue, Toronto, Toronto, Canada

JANUARY 15, 2026 ->  Due to the winter storm and to ensure the safety of all, Choir has been cancelled this evening. The Senior Choir of Fairlawn Avenue United Church is an auditioned group of approximately 35 members, including an 8-member professional core. The Seniors sing every Sunday from September through June at the 10:30 am worship service, and are responsible for an introit, two anthems and all other service music. In order to cover that amount and level of music, often with a minimum of rehearsal time, choristers must have singing experience and excellent music/sight-reading skills. Practice is weekly on Thursday evenings.

Land Acknowledgement. Fairlawn acknowledges the sacred land on which our church stands. It has been a site of human activity for 15,000 years. This land is the territory of the Huron, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the New Credit River. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and Confederacy of the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today, the meeting place of Toronto is still home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work in the community, on this territory. We are also mindful of broken covenants and the need to strive to make right with all our relations. The original nations continue to cry out for justice. As treaty people, we commit to listen, learn, and work toward justice and reconciliation.
