Pastoral Care

We offer connection and caring in several ways:

Breast Friends – Cancer Support Group

Women who have breast cancer, or have survived it, meet monthly on Zoom for information sharing, encouragement, fitness ideas and some fun social events. The group provides a supportive environment with women who understand this journey. It is open to anyone from the church or community who would like to join.

Pastoral Visitation

Our pastoral visitation ministry provides support and compassion for those who may occasionally experience difficulty in their lives and supports our senior members when they can no longer regularly attend church. We send cards and flowers and keep them connected to Fairlawn through phone calls and personal visits.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer shawls are offered to Fairlawn members, family and friends in need of support and comfort, or to celebrate a special occasion. The knitters work on their own time on these cozy, warm shawls that serve as a tangible reminder that one is not alone. Since March 2020, knitters have been meeting monthly on Zoom to knit and chat. Please contact if you would like to join this ministry or know of someone who would appreciate receiving a shawl. The shawls are not for sale, but donations are gratefully received in order to purchase yarn to maintain the ministry.

Visitation Tea

Between 2020 and 2023, in lieu of the Visitation Tea, a gift of spring flowers was delivered after Easter to our senior members who were no longer able to attend church services regularly. We are pleased that on June 5, 2024, we will hold our Visitation Tea in the sanctuary. Our senior members will be picked up and brought to the church for a communion service, followed by refreshments and an opportunity to visit and connect with one another. Stay tuned for more details to follow.

Widows' Support Group

This group meets every six weeks in person to facilitate the sharing of issues and concerns in a safe, confidential space. The women are at different stages and provide support for one another. New members from Fairlawn and from the community are welcome.
