Rev. Jean Ward

Minister of Word, Sacrament and Pastoral Care

Jean Ward is a transplanted Maritimer from Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Jean was ordained by the United Church of Canada and has served congregations in Manitoba, Toronto, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. For 15 years she served as national staff person for Family Ministries and Sexuality and later in Urban Ministries. She is a story teller, walker, reader, a searcher of the holy in the ordinary, a lover of cats, a people watcher and fervent believer in the power of poetry to name hard truths and capture our souls.

Rev. Nigel Weaver

Rev. Nigel Weaver

Minister of Word, Sacrament and Faith Development

Born in England, Nigel has been in Canada for sixty years. He is thankful for, and seeks to live out, the many truths he has learned in those years – about patriarchy-feminism-womanism, about racism-antiracism, about orientation-gender-identity, about Indigenous realities-respect-reconciliation. He joins Jean as the co-Minister at Fairlawn.

Eleanor Daley

Director of Music

Eleanor Daley has been the Director of Music at Fairlawn Avenue United Church since 1982. During this time, she has established a thriving choral program. A prolific composer, Eleanor has a remarkable gift for melody. She has over one hundred and fifty published choral compositions and is commissioned extensively throughout North America. Her compositions have been widely performed, recorded and aired throughout North America, Great Britain, Europe, South Africa and the Far East. See The Published Works of Eleanor Daley. Eleanor has twice received the National Choral Award for Outstanding Choral Composition of the Year, given by the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors (ACCC). Our Senior Choir performs a range of music with exceptional skill and beauty, thanks in large part to Eleanor’s inspiring leadership. In early 2023, Eleanor was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada and received the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, the highest honour bestowed by the Queen's University Alumni Association (QUAA).
