Fairlawn is all about providing a safe space for everyone to explore their spirituality. Join us every Sunday at 10:30 am as we express our spirituality through our church service with prayer and music, and at “Spirit Space For Kids.” Or, join us for the following:
Every Sunday at 10:30 am, people gather at Fairlawn Avenue United Church. Within the context of our church service, we explore what it means to be a spiritual person in today’s world, and ask some of the big questions that come up in our day-to-day lives. In addition to our Senior Minister, we have other excellent leaders, such as our Minister of Children and Youth, and occasionally one of the retired ministers from our congregation. We regularly invite guest speakers to further stimulate our thinking.
The music at Fairlawn is superb, led by Director of Music Eleanor Daley, a renowned composer whose music has been performed in places as far-flung as Australia, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom! Our Senior Choir leads every service with music that enhances the experience, particularly for special services like Good Friday and the Service of Lessons and Carols at Easter. And if you are in your seat before 10:30 am, you will hear preludes performed by our soloists, alone or in small groupings, or by our Junior and Intermediate Choirs!

Are you curious about faith and spirituality? Not sure what to believe? Fairlawn is all about providing a safe space for everyone to explore their spirituality, and an Adult Ed policy that emphasizes openness to spiritual exploration.
Fairlawn invites guest speakers, offers seminars and hosts learning series for adults seeking spiritual growth and practical presentations on living an ethical life in today’s world. Adult education is offered week nights, Sundays, and occasionally as weekend retreats—it’s always changing as we seek to offer sessions relevant to the needs of our community.
Prayer Days occur several times a year. The chapel is open for the whole day to people wanting a quiet place of reflection and prayer, and brief Healing Prayer Services provide an opportunity to pray together and gather strength from each other.

The Fairlawn Men’s Group meets in the Fellowship Room at 10 am on the first Monday of each month (except July and August). The conversations are wide-ranging and always interesting and offer an opportunity for the men of the congregation to get together and discuss issues of mutual interest. Come on out and join us for a time of comradeship and discussion.
During Sunday services, we provide a staffed nursery so that babies can be cared for in a safe environment while their parents take part in the church service. Our toddler room provides care for children who are mobile but not yet in kindergarten and need some room to move!
Children aged 4-12 sit with their parents for the early part of the service. Then the children leave after the Children’s Time and attend Fairlawn’s version of Sunday School called “Spirit Space.“
On Sundays after church, we gather in the assembly hall for coffee and conversation.
