Conversation Under the Trees with Rev. Jean Ward
On Fairlawn’s front lawn in the softness of a summer’s afternoon, you are invited to drop by and join conversation.
3:00pm – 4:00pm
Thursday, July 30 and
Tuesday, August 11 & 25.
It is a good place to be together – in the neighbourhood where we find ourselves as a faith community, sheltered by the strength of trees and in the presence of a vibrant city.
Let us see where the Spirit leads us as we converse together.
Christian Meditation
We meet online weekly Wednesday at 7:30pm on Zoom for Christian Meditation. If you have not participated before, please email the moderator, Patrick Sullivan, at ac.oc1786731696itapm1786731696ys@ne1786731696ehcta1786731696p1786731696 before the meeting to get the Zoom login. He can add you to his email distribution list for login information.
Men’s Group
On the first Monday of each month (except July and August), men can join the Men’s Group for a time of comraderie and discussion. The wide-ranging conversations offer men a chance to discuss issues of mutual interest.
Women’s Spirituality
We have two women’s spirituality groups where women meet monthly (except July and August) to contemplate life’s questions and support each other. For information or if you have questions, please contact ac.de1786731696tinue1786731696uneva1786731696nwalr1786731696iaf@s1786731696e1786731696.
Baptism in the United Church is recognized by all denominations of the Christian church that practise infant baptism. Similarly, if people have already been baptized in another church, the United Church recognizes their baptism and welcomes them as Christians. At Fairlawn we celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism at several specially designated services throughout the year, during our Sunday church service at 10:30 am.
Fairlawn performs all marriages allowed by the Ontario government, including same-sex marriages. Our staff will consult with you on how we can help you celebrate your cultural and spiritual background for this special occasion. Ministry staff perform marriage ceremonies within the church building and offsite. Consultation with the staff to celebrate each couple’s culture and spiritual background is encouraged.
At some point in our lives, we will be faced with planning a funeral or memorial service for a loved one. Fairlawn Avenue United Church is here to help you through the process.

Fairlawn Remembers
From March 2020 to May 2022, public health guidelines prevented us from gathering to celebrate the lives of congregants and their family members who had passed away. They were honoured in Fairlawn Remembers, an online site of tributes. Now that we are once again able to come together to commemorate lives once lived, we will not be adding further pages. Sincere thanks to Barb Steep for coordinating this initiative.
Worship with Fairlawn
Worship Services at Fairlawn Avenue United Church are on Sunday mornings in our sanctuary. Doors open at 10:00am and services begin at 10:30am with Rev. Jean Ward; Rev. Nigel Weaver; Eleanor Daley, Director of Music; and the Fairlawn Avenue Senior Choir.
