Please note new time effective October 21, 2024 -> 2:30pm - 3:45pm. Join Rob Metcalf for this 10-week series of Tai Chi Monday afternoons at 3:15pm to 4:30pm, September 9 to November 25, 2024. Please note – there are NO CLASSES due to stautory holiday on: Monday, Septemeber 30 National Day of Truth & Reconciliation - CLOSED Monday, October 14 Thanksgiving - CLOSED To register or for information, please contact Rob at ac.de1780775615tinue1780775615uneva1780775615nwalr1780775615iaf@i1780775615hciat1780775615. This gentle form of exercise can help maintain strength, flexibility, and balance.  Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion.” There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems. You don’t need to subscribe to or learn much about tai chi’s roots in Chinese philosophy to enjoy its health benefits, but these concepts can help make sense of its approach: Qi — an energy force thought to flow through the body; tai chi is said to unblock and encourage the proper flow of qi. Yin and yang — opposing elements thought to make up the universe that need to be kept in harmony. Tai chi is said to promote this balance.

Regent Park Community Ministry, TUCC and the North Toronto Cluster present How We House - A Walking Tour Experience Saturday, September 28, from 10:00am- 1:00pm RGI… city subsidies… TCHC… housing coops… supportive housing… Do you find yourself wishing you better understood the different kinds of affordable housing options in the city, so you can advocate from an informed place? If so, you are not alone! We will go on a walking tour of the Regent Park neighbourhood, and hear from people that live in various types of housing about their experience. We will also learn about the history of affordable housing, the gaps and pressing areas for immediate advocacy regarding affordable housing. The walk itself will be approximately 1.5 km total with stops along the way, all within Regent Park, no major inclines or stairs involved. We meet promptly at 10:00am at 585 Dundas St. East, and our walk will reconvene at the same location for lunch and a Q&A session with the presenters. The event will wrap up no later than 1:00pm. Registrants are asked to register and the fee is $15 per person to help cover lunch and event costs. (Please note: You will be asked to make a quick account on the ChurchX website when signing up as part of the process. Land Acknowledgement. Fairlawn acknowledges the sacred land on which our church stands. It has been a site of human activity for 15,000 years. This land is the territory of the Huron, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the New Credit River. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and Confederacy of the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today, the meeting place of Toronto is still home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work in the community, on this territory. We are also mindful of broken covenants and the need to strive to make right with all our relations. The original nations continue to cry out for justice. As treaty people, we commit to listen, learn, and work toward justice and reconciliation.
