Volunteer at Fairlawn
Coffee Hour after Sunday worship – Experience Belonging Ministry
Every Sunday following worship service, coffee, tea and cookies are served in the sanctuary. A signup sheet will be on the coffee table for volunteers to select dates to assist.
Each week, a two-person team will arrive at 10:00am to set up, attend the service and be finished cleaning up by 12:30pm. Easy-to-follow instructions are posted in the kitchen.
Coffee hour provides an important opportunity for people to connect with one another, welcome guests and feel part of Fairlawn.
Winter 2024 Worship Service Support Volunteers – Explore Spirituality Ministry
Fairlawn’s Explore Spirituality Council is seeking volunteers to support our worship services. A smile is all it takes, so don’t be shy, let your light shine wherever you are in the building or property.
- Outside greeters – the weather is turning up, and the sun is getting stronger, remember to bring your sun glasses. Even if its raining you can see people coming through the glass doors and open them from the inside.
- Sanctuary support – help visitors navigate the building, and support our accessibility to all with the elevator/lift and assist with collection.
We very much appreciate your help in making our services a warm and welcoming experience for regulars and visitors. We hope you will sign up for spots that fit your availability. We will provide training and you can serve whenever your calendar allows.
Governing Council – Vacancies
- Governing Council is the body of volunteers elected by the Congregation to ensure that the Mission /Call expressed by the congregation is fulfilled in diverse and effective ways , and that the operations of Fairlawn Avenue United Church are carried out responsibly and in support of that Mission. The full Governing Council meet approximately four times per year.
As Fairlawn vibrantly emerges from three difficult pandemic years, we recognize how blessed we have been to have a strong, competent leadership team to pilot us through that period. The majority of Governing Council (GC) members plan to continue next year to steer our Fairlawn Forward vision.
We’re seeking several Fairlawners who believe in the work of our church community and want to help shape that vision. Might you be interested in being part of Fairlawn’s council? Do you have some leadership or personnel experience to offer to the church? Would you consider co-chairing with a friend? There will be lots of support from the current chairs and from the ongoing team.
