Regent Park Community Ministry, TUCC and the North Toronto Cluster present How We House - A Walking Tour Experience Saturday, September 28, from 10:00am- 1:00pm RGI… city subsidies… TCHC… housing coops… supportive housing… Do you find yourself wishing you better understood the different kinds of affordable housing options in the city, so you can advocate from an informed place? If so, you are not alone! We will go on a walking tour of the Regent Park neighbourhood, and hear from people that live in various types of housing about their experience. We will also learn about the history of affordable housing, the gaps and pressing areas for immediate advocacy regarding affordable housing. The walk itself will be approximately 1.5 km total with stops along the way, all within Regent Park, no major inclines or stairs involved. We meet promptly at 10:00am at 585 Dundas St. East, and our walk will reconvene at the same location for lunch and a Q&A session with the presenters. The event will wrap up no later than 1:00pm. Registrants are asked to register and the fee is $15 per person to help cover lunch and event costs. (Please note: You will be asked to make a quick account on the ChurchX website when signing up as part of the process. If you have any issues you can email Angie to assist – ac.hc1780860330ruhc-1780860330detin1780860330u@gni1780860330kcoha1780860330 )

Stay with us after worship service on Sunday, March 23, for a workshop facilitated by Christina Gallo of CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) Toronto. We will provide a light lunch during coffee hour that will include sandwiches and crudité to take to your seats to enjoy as we transition from worship to our guest speaker. Fairlawners, like many in our community, are feeling particular anxiety about social justice issues close to our hearts and minds: poverty, climate change, 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, and the list goes on. Christina will share with us what anxiety is; the difference between the normal anxiety we feel vs. medical/clinical anxiety; how to develop empathy to help understand anxiety in others; and how we can best support our kids, families, communities and ourselves. There will also be a Q&A period.
