The Music of Talk with Tom Allen
Fairlawn Avenue United Church ES Series presents: The Music of Talk Storyteller and broadcaster Tom Allen brings you on a stirring and inspirational journey to the deepest roots of human communication where melody and meaning become one. With live musical examples (by harpist Lori Gemmell and violinist Sheila Jaffé) and the insight gained in a 40-year career combining the narrative and emotional connections between music and talk, Tom will bring your conscious mind's attention to the musical connection the human subconscious has been making for millennia. Also available for purchase at the event is Tom's book:

Fairlawn Senior Choir Practice
JANUARY 15, 2026 -> Due to the winter storm and to ensure the safety of all, Choir has been cancelled this evening. The Senior Choir of Fairlawn Avenue United Church is an auditioned group of approximately 35 members, including an 8-member professional core. The Seniors sing every Sunday from September through June at the 10:30 am worship service, and are responsible for an introit, two anthems and all other service music. In order to cover that amount and level of music, often with a minimum of rehearsal time, choristers must have singing experience and excellent music/sight-reading skills. Practice is weekly on Thursday evenings.
